Mark your Calendars! The Community Clean Energy Program is Launching Soon

Many of you have followed along with the Utah Renewable Communities and Community Clean Energy Program for years now. Some of you may be new to the initiative. Well, after years of work, we are excited that the program is almost ready to launch!
The Utah Community Clean Energy Program (CCEP) is coming to you in January 2027, and you’ll start to get your first official notices about it this November 2026.
This is exciting because, for the first time, Rocky Mountain Power customers in the 16 communities comprising the Utah Renewable Communities coalition will be able to support the dedicated build-out of new, utility-scale renewable energy specifically for our communities’ electricity demand.
We need renewable energy more than ever. And we need local momentum to push it forward.
The program will automatically add a $4 clean energy line item to your Rocky Mountain Power household bill, starting in January. Everyone* will be automatically enrolled, with the choice to opt-out at any time. Leaving the program is free through April 2027. Then, starting in May, there is a $30 termination charge. This helps ensure we’re building the right amount of clean energy for the customers who stay in the program.
There is a low-income option for those on Rocky Mountain Power’s HELP program to participate in CCEP for free. This is funded by a surcharge on other residential ($0.10) and non-residential ($0.12) monthly bills.
Commercial customers pay $0.00609 per kWh (plus the $0.12 monthly low-income fund surcharge) and have different termination fees than residential customers.
We hope you’ll stay enrolled in the Community Clean Energy Program. We’ve worked hard to make it easy, impactful, and seamless to directly contribute to your community’s clean energy, climate, and air quality goals.
Most importantly — you’ve now got the power to choose.
*Everyone living in a participating community is eligible to participate, except residential customers on Schedule 135—the old net metering rate for rooftop solar prior to ~2017.
